Adoption Application Disclaimer:  Filling out the adoption application does NOT guarantee a hold or confirmation of adoption on the pet you applied for.  All applications are reviewed and must be accepted by our trained counselors before a pet is adopted.  Please allow 24-48 hours for our adoption team to contact you in regards to your application.

Sam is about 8 years old and weighs 71 lbs. He qualifies for San Antonio Pets Alive's SENIORS for SENIORS program ... his adoption fee is waived for an approved adopter at least 55 years of age! Hi there! I'm Hank, a typical gentle giant. I'm about 8 years old and would looove to be a part of your family. Don't let my age fool you, I still have my moments of "puppy energy! I enjoy all the treats and love breakfast...but not eggs, they took those from me. My favorite things are relaxing on the couch with you while you rub my belly, eating the delicious sandwich you just made me, and taking my shift of yard patrol. I would hope to have a doggy brother or sister to play and take naps with, but I'm also 100% ok with being the center of your attention. Kids! Let them love me, but I think the older ones are better adventure partners. I'm not loud, my singing is to a bare minimum. I do like to roll around in the grass to put on my cologne. Now for the serious stuff. People in my past didn't take very good care of me, that's ok because I'm a happy doggo and love everyone. My heart is full...of worms, but we are currently working through that. I have some kidney issues, yet you wouldn't know it; my bloodwork told my body's secrets. I might seem like a medical case, but I'm not. I just want a nice place to call home and to give someone special all my loving. Licks & wet noses, Hank I am currently located at San Antonio Pets Alive! and I am in a foster home. By adopting me, you not only give me a new leash on life; you also save the life of the additional dog who can be rescued from euthanasia and placed in foster care. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out the adoption application found on the website at After we pre-screen your application we will connect you with the pet. Send an e-mail to with pet's name and ID# for other questions. Please allow us up to 24 hours to respond because all fosters work with us on a volunteer basis.
