ADOPT A DOG
When you adopt a dog, you save a life.
Please have a look at all the amazing dogs we have for adoption in our centers and our foster program. If you would like more information on a pet found here please fill out an adoption application (filling this out does not secure an adoption) and a member of our adoption team will reach out. Be sure to include the pet’s name and ID# in the subject line. In the email please include your phone number and email address and someone will contact you as soon as possible. (Please allow 24 hours for return contact)
Take a look at our SAPA! Urgents and Adoptables Facebook page for dogs in immediate need of foster or adoption.
To see what each adoption requires and includes, please visit our Adopt page.
Adoption Application Disclaimer: Filling out the adoption application does NOT guarantee a hold or confirmation of adoption on the pet you applied for. All applications are reviewed and must be accepted by our trained counselors before a pet is adopted. Please allow 24-48 hours for our adoption team to contact you in regards to your application.
Age: 4 Months
Weight: 15 pounds
Breed: Plott hound/ Labrador retriever
Willy has survived distemper but was left with a twitch that is permanent. It does not interfere with him being active in fact, that, and his floppy ears are so adorable I had to bring him home. You cannot notice his tick when he runs or is active only when he is still. He doesn't know just how special he truly is. His learning capability is like any puppy but he has become more alert and learning so fast! We have started potty training him and he has been doing wonderful. We let him out to use the restroom frequently and he knows to go on the grass now! He is playful and innocent about it. Although his back legs had begun to atrophy due to so much time in a kennel within a week, he has already started to lift off of his back feet more and more. I believe he may grow up to be a medium/large dog with an athletic build. He just needs more activity to build his strength in his legs.
HEALTH & GROOMING
Willy is a short haired breed but I feel like he may be a hypo allergenic dog due to the type of coat he has. It's very similar to my yorkie poms where it's fluffy and doesn't shed much at all.
Willy has not been neutered but in another week or so he will be ready to be neutered.
ABOUT THE FOSTER PARENT
I am a dental hygienist and lover of all dogs! I came across Willy through an email from SAPA of puppies needing placement. I have a senior dog named Simba. Willy and Simba aren't exactly a perfect match but Simba has always been a moderate temperament dog -not easy to please and spoiled rotten. I keep them apart for now only because Willy wants to play and Simba doesn't want to be bothered.
