When you adopt a dog, you save a life.

Please have a look at all the amazing dogs we have for adoption in our centers and our foster program. If you would like more information on a pet found here please fill out an adoption application (filling this out does not secure an adoption) and a member of our adoption team will reach out. Be sure to include the pet’s name and ID# in the subject line. In the email please include your phone number and email address and someone will contact you as soon as possible. (Please allow 24 hours for return contact)

Take a look at our SAPA! Urgents and Adoptables Facebook page for dogs in immediate need of foster or adoption.

To see what each adoption requires and includes, please visit our Adopt page.

Adoption Application Disclaimer:  Filling out the adoption application does NOT guarantee a hold or confirmation of adoption on the pet you applied for.  All applications are reviewed and must be accepted by our trained counselors before a pet is adopted.  Please allow 24-48 hours for our adoption team to contact you in regards to your application.

Major Hopper is around 7 years old and weighs 40 lbs. He is a quiet guy and appreciates gentle pets and will fall in your arms. Will you be his hero? He is such a sweet and loving boy. Major Hopper (SAPA-A-51404) is a WONDERFUL family dog! He has been so sweet with our 4 kids and isn't bothered by our other dogs at all. He is 100% house trained and knows several commands (sit, shake, stay). He loves to lounge on the couch and will also play with his toys if you engage him. He's not the best on a leash and wants to investigate everyone at the park, but we're working on that. Please make him a part of your family! Before Major Hopper was in foster care and was living in the adoption kennels, he was the beneficiary of a short "stay-cation". The following is what his staycation hosts had to say about him at that time: "This sweet dog is house trained, calm and sweet. He doesn't counter surf or climb on furniture, although if you ask him to, he'll hop on your bed and snuggle up. He gives high 5's and twirls for treats. He's been great with my kiddos- both big and small. He likes to play tug of war, chase squirrels in the backyard and chew on bones. He loves to go on walks and explore the neighborhood. He might need a little leash training, (would recommend a harness) but will easily pick it up with clicker training and high value treats. A kennel is no place for this sweet boy." I am currently located at San Antonio Pets Alive! and I am in a foster home. By adopting me, you not only give me a new leash on life; you also save the life of the additional dog who can be rescued from euthanasia and placed in foster care. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out the adoption application found on the website at After we pre-screen your application we will connect you with the pet. Send an e-mail to with pet's name and ID# for other questions. Please allow us up to 24 hours to respond because all fosters work with us on a volunteer basis.
