When you adopt a dog, you save a life.

Please have a look at all the amazing dogs we have for adoption in our centers and our foster program. If you would like more information on a pet found here please fill out an adoption application (filling this out does not secure an adoption) and a member of our adoption team will reach out. Be sure to include the pet’s name and ID# in the subject line. In the email please include your phone number and email address and someone will contact you as soon as possible. (Please allow 24 hours for return contact)

Take a look at our SAPA! Urgents and Adoptables Facebook page for dogs in immediate need of foster or adoption.

To see what each adoption requires and includes, please visit our Adopt page.

Adoption Application Disclaimer:  Filling out the adoption application does NOT guarantee a hold or confirmation of adoption on the pet you applied for.  All applications are reviewed and must be accepted by our trained counselors before a pet is adopted.  Please allow 24-48 hours for our adoption team to contact you in regards to your application.

Houston is around 5 years old and weighs 61 lbs. Meet Houston! Houston is an easygoing guy looking for a place to call home. He is a low maintenance, calm dog who loves to eat treats and take long naps. Houston would probably be most comfortable in a quiet home with adults and if he's lucky, another pup to show him the ropes. He is both crate trained and potty trained, and is very quiet when left home alone. He's not interested in walking on a leash yet but he loves to spend some time in the yard every day. Houston doesn't seem to care about cats, but he definitely likes to meet other dogs and has done well with all of the younger pups he has met at his foster home (check out his video to see them goofing off! While Houston loves the company of dogs, we think he has lived on his own for a while and is still learning to trust humans. He will let you pet him or pick him up if needed, but he's not too interested in cuddling yet. With enough treats you may be able to win over his heart. Luckily, in spite of everything he has gone through, he is a big sweetheart and he just needs someone to give him time and patience for his personality to really shine. Are you his perfect match? I am currently located at San Antonio Pets Alive! and I am in a foster home. By adopting me, you not only give me a new leash on life; you also save the life of the additional dog who can be rescued from euthanasia and placed in foster care. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out the adoption application found on the website at After we pre-screen your application we will connect you with the pet. Send an e-mail to with pet's name and ID# for other questions. Please allow us up to 24 hours to respond because all fosters work with us on a volunteer basis.
