San Antonio Pets Alive! has a lot of distemper and suspect distemper puppies and dogs who need your help.  Our medical clinic currently has 17 sick puppies and dogs (9 confirmed distemper and 8 suspect distemper). All of these puppies and dogs are quarantined while receiving lifesaving treatment.

What is Distemper? Distemper is a highly contagious and often fatal disease that attacks multiple body systems: mostly respiratory, gastrointestinal and nervous systems.  It spreads through airborne exposure and nasal/eye discharge.

Once an animal is infected, the disease attacks their body within weeks. Symptoms of distemper include nasal/eye discharge, coughing, vomiting, lack of appetite and various neurological disorders (twitching, seizures, etc.).

With a completely full unit, our medical staff is working diligently to save these precious, vulnerable lives.  We are exhausting all our medical supplies and we need help covering medical expenses.

It costs $650 per puppy/dog to treat distemper and treatment lasts for 4 weeks (or longer). This includes lifesaving medicines, vitamin-c, medical supplies, tests and specialized care.
