Dear Lifesaving Partner,
As I sit down to write this, I’m overwhelmed with pride and gratitude for the incredible journey we’ve been on together. None of this would have been possible without you. You have made a difference in the lives of countless animals, and your commitment has brought us to where we are today.
Over the past few years, we’ve faced challenges none of us could have predicted. The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted nearly every aspect of our lives and work, and the animal welfare community was hit particularly hard. For a time, it felt like the world stood still. Shelters faced record intakes as people surrendered pets due to financial hardships or relocations.
But even as everything else slowed down, your dedication to our mission never did. You knew the animals in our care depended on us, and together, we refused to let them down. Rooted in our core value of lifesaving, we worked tirelessly with relentless compassion, care, and love to continue saving lives. It was always about doing what was best for the animals, our adopters, and fosters. The road hasn’t been easy, but as we’ve emerged from the shadows of the pandemic, we find ourselves stronger and more capable than ever before—and that’s because of you.
Let’s look back. In June 2019, we saved 411 lives. That’s 411 precious souls who found their second chance because of your efforts, your love, and your willingness to open your heart and home. It was a monumental achievement, one that we all celebrated with joy. Fast forward to June 2024, and we’ve surpassed that number, saving 468 lives. But it doesn’t stop there. In July 2024, we saved an astounding 503 lives—115 more than we saved in July 2019. This growth isn’t just about numbers-It’s a testament to your unwavering commitment to lifesaving, and we couldn’t be more grateful.
One of the most significant changes we’ve made is in how we manage spay and neuter services. Before, we relied heavily on external partners, but now, we’ve taken the reins by adding a veterinarian to our staff. On top of that, two very generous donors helped underwrite our surgeries for 2024. Because of your support, we’ve been able to perform around 1,000 spay and neuter surgeries so far this year alone. This shift has not only increased our capacity to save lives but has also allowed us to provide more comprehensive care for every animal that comes through our doors.
Our foster program has also grown beyond our wildest dreams. With over 1,500 dedicated fosters, you’ve helped us care for more animals than ever before. You are the backbone of our lifesaving efforts. You open your heart and home to animals in need, providing them with the love and care they deserve while they wait for their forever homes. We couldn’t be more grateful for each one of you who makes this work possible.
But we’re not stopping there. We’ve recently launched a capital campaign to increase our lifesaving capacity even further. This campaign is about more than just expanding our facilities; it’s about paving the way for a future where we can save even more lives. And you are at the heart of this mission. Together, we’re building a foundation that will support our mission for years to come, ensuring that every animal that needs our help has a place to turn.
As we move forward, we’re more committed than ever to our lifesaving mission. We know there’s still work to be done, but with your continued support, we’re confident we can save even more lives in the months and years ahead. Together, we’re paving the way for a brighter future for all animals.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Let’s continue to grow, save, and make a difference—one life at a time.
My very best,
Rebecca Mayberry
