We’ve received questions about a recent new policy that would impact SAPA!’s lifesaving model. The policy was introduced by Animal Care Services this week and also revoked this week.
San Antonio Pets Alive! (SAPA!) is a fast-paced, high-volume rescue partner of Animal Care Services; we save adoptable dogs and cats from the city's euthanasia list, sometimes with just hours left to live. Since our inception in 2011, we’ve saved more than 68,000 animals from being “euthanized.” Every day since we’ve started our focused mission, SAPA! has consistently abided by our core values, one of which is Lifesaving. We believe every life is precious. We work tirelessly with compassion, care and love to save the lives of dogs and cats and to do what's best for the animals, as well as our adopters, fosters and rescue partners. We are so thankful for our partners in life-saving. Today, we are especially thankful to the City Manager's office and City leadership in revoking the recent policy change to not reverse sedated animals during capacity euthanasia.
SAPA! recognizes the importance of timely communication and deadlines in our life-saving work. We strive for excellence and efficiency in all of our core programs. In addition to our dedicated team of staff, we rely on a steadfast community of all types of supporters. Together, we serve as a source of strength for the deserving dogs and cats of San Antonio who were pulled to safety without having to fear taking their last breath. Today, we are thankful for you too. Community support has enabled us to give animals a second chance – yesterday, today and again tomorrow.
You’re a lifesaver, thank you and please know we remain committed to saving every single life we can.
