SAPA! Is On The
Road Again!
|
San Antonio Pets Alive! is excited to share that our transport program is in
full swing again! Today was our first groundbreaking transport since we
relaunched, and will be transporting 25 dogs from Garland, Texas to a rescue in
Maine in our transport van!
The SAPA! transport program will include monthly road trips by bus and van that
will take at-risk, shelter dogs out-of-state in coordination with rescue
partners who will commit to finding these animals forever homes. This life
saving transport service will enhance SAPA!’s mission to eliminate the killing
of at-risk animals due to lack of space, adopter or foster.

Gail's compassion
for animals was apparent in everything she did, and she was known to take in
strays whenever she could. Gail moved to San Antonio, Texas to continue her
government career, but her love for animals never wavered. Throughout her time
in San Antonio, Gail remained a dedicated animal lover and advocate,
volunteering at local animal shelters, and rescue
organizations.
Gail passed away this year, but her legacy of love
for animals lives on! In her final act of generosity, she bequeathed a portion
of her estate to San Antonio Pets Alive!. Gail's gift will have a tremendous
impact on many animals. Her legacy helps to ensure that animals in need
receive the care and support they deserve, and that they find loving homes
where they can thrive. Gail's love for
animals was boundless, and her generosity will continue to make a difference
in the lives of animals for many years to come.

of Development and Marketing, Melissa Woolard! Melissa has worked in nonprofit
executive management for eight years and has over two decades of marketing
communications and public relations experience. When she’s not raising necessary
funds to impact meaningful change, you will find her on a tennis court. Woolard
is a proud Longhorn (Hook’em), wife and mom.

Foster of the
Month
Jolene Valenzuela

Jolene Valenzuela is San Antonio Pets Alive!'s
foster of the month for the month of April! Our foster team nominated Jolene
because of the passion she has for our lifesaving mission. Shelly, SAPA!'s
Foster Manager said, "Jolene is a great foster! Jolene goes above and beyond
for our animals."
Jolene does it all - momma dogs, puppies, and
staycations with our long-stay dogs! Jolene is always ready to advocate for
our harder-to-adopt animals and helps them find loving families. We are
lucky to have Jolene as a foster, and her lifesaving work does not go
unnoticed!

San Antonio Pets
Alive! invites you to celebrate Fiesta 2023 with a new furry friend! Dogs
seven months and older will have an adoption fee of $20 and puppies 6 months
and under can be adopted for $40! This adoption special will be held from
Friday, April 21st, to Sunday, April 23rd and includes the dogs and puppies
adopted from any SAPA! location and foster care!

Contest

Alive! invites ALL pet parents to participate in this creative, fun and
engaging contest that supports at-risk animals in our community!
It’s easy to participate! To enter, go to www.gogophotocontest.com/sanantoniopetsalive,
upload and submit your favorite photo of your pet ($20 donation), vote for
your pet ($1 donation) and have your friends and family vote too! The contest
is still running now until April 30, 2023.
The grand prize winner receives his/her pet's face
on limited-edition special label Alamo Beer Company beer cans with one of
Alamo Beer Company's favorite beer. These cans will be available for sale at
Alamo Beer Company. The winner will also receive a case of the limited-edition
special label Alamo Beer Company beer featuring the winning pet's face, a VIP
tour of Alamo Beer Company for four people (must be 21 years and older), and a
$500 H-E-B gift card!
All
winners and participants are invited to attend our post contest event on June
3 at Alamo Beer Company, celebrating our pets and revealing the winner’s beer
can label!
