Dear Lifesaving Friends,
February has come and gone in a blink of an eye. Our lifesaving efforts were full speed ahead, saving
411 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens with the help of our fosters and rescue partners! This is our highest February intake in the past four years. At-risk animals continue entering the city shelter, and we continue to plea dogs to rescue partners
and recruit new fosters as we are full at our locations.
Eight mothers and their 61 precious puppies found safety with us last month. We continue to see many moms and their puppies at our city shelter, and we are always looking for fosters to welcome these families into their homes.
Thanks to you and our wonderful supporters, we reached our goal to fund our mom and puppies ward at our Medical Care Center! This ward will provide a safer and calmer environment for these sweet families until a foster can welcome them into their home. Work
is already underway to get this ward ready.
We are grateful for you and for your passion to help us save homeless animals in our community!
Sincerely,
|

Sponsor one of our animals!
Your gift can change their lives!
|
|
These precious cats and dogs have recovered from their illnesses and are eagerly waiting to find their forever homes! They each have some medical issues post-recovery but would make a great companion nonetheless.
We ask that you consider making a gift of $85/pet to help sponsor their adoption fees so that they are one step closer to finding their forever homes. If you are interested in sponsoring their adoption fee, please email
donate@sanantoniopetsalive.org. These pets will go through our standard adoption process by our adoption counselors.

Millie
Millie is a sweet 11-month-old pup that was brought into our care with her brother Marcos. Marcos quickly got adopted, but sadly Millie got sick with distemper and began to receive treatment at SAPA!'s
Medical Care Center. Millie has recovered from her illness and is not contagious. Millie does have a noticeable twitch as the result of distemper. Millie would love a home that can provide her with compassion, love, and patience as she learns to explore the
world outside of our Medical Care Center.

Charger
Charger is a beautiful 12- year-old regal cat. He is very handsome and he knows it. He loves being picked up and frequently asks to sit on laps. Charger's blood glucose levels have to be monitored closely,
and is on a diabetic diet. He has been in our care for more than a year and a half and would love to find his forever home where he can enjoy his adulthood.

Cardinal
Cardinal has been with us since he was a tiny baby. He was diagnosed with distemper and has lived at our clinic for 4 months. The distemper left him with limited lung capacity and he has to be kept
in a cool environment and walked for just short periods of time. He's very sweet and loves everyone and is looking for a furever family to call his own.

Fosters of the Month - Kyle and Reese Hines
|
|
Congratulations to our amazing fosters, Kyle and Reese Hines, for being our February fosters of the month!
Air Force veterans, Kyle and Reese, started fostering at the start of COVID and have made such an incredible impact on so many lives. The Hines primarily foster puppies and dogs but have also stepped in and saved once at-risk mommas and babies and tiny neonatal
kittens – They foster the animals that need them most, particularly ones that are on the City of San Antonio's euthanasia list. In February, they fostered 17 dogs and puppies, including Chocolate and her 11 pups!
On top of caring for these animals, the Hines family have five of their own rescue pups (two SAPA! foster fails) and last year, Kyle got her Master of Canine Training and Behavior Specialist Certification and helps to train many of the dogs in our care as well
as visits foster homes and advises families on properly caring for their pups.
Kyle and Reese also bring their foster babies to snuggle services & SAPA! events to spread the word on fostering and bring joy to those who need it. Thannk you Kyle and Reese for being absoultely pawsome!!
We are so thankful for all of our fosters - we could not help save lives if it weren't for our generous fosters!

Tourmaline
Tourmaline desperately needed dental work when she came into our care. This poor elderly cat had periodontal disease with severe gingivitis. A few weeks ago she received the dental care she needed and six of
her teeth were extracted. She has started to eat and is slowly breaking out of her shell. Tourmaline is now seeking a wonderful furever family.

Our Lifesaving team needs your help finding fosters to care for these fragile and innocent lives! We are already caring for neonatal kittens, and our foster team would like to be as prepared as possible with
approved fosters lined as more kittens arrive at the city municipal shelter. Please consider applying to become a neonatal kitten foster.

In February, 260 cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies found their forever homes! Our most recent longest stay pup, Fauna, was also adopted this month after
being in our care for 384 days! She is thriving in her new home.
