The data is alarming: on average, about 30 to 40 animals are brought into the municipal shelter daily. This increase is due to several factors, one being a significant number of unsterilized animals roaming the community. Without immediate intervention, many are placed on the euthanasia list simply due to lack of space. This is a heartbreaking reality that we, as a community, have the power to change. What is Sterilization?
Sterilization refers to spaying or neutering pets, a surgical procedure that prevents animals from reproducing. Many pet owners do not sterilize their animals due to cost, lack of awareness, or misconceptions about the procedure. The cost of spaying or neutering a pet can range from $150 to $400, which can be unattainable for some families. However, sterilization is crucial in controlling the pet population and reducing the number of animals in shelters. Here at SAPA!, we are dedicated to educating the community on the critical importance of sterilization.
