Earlier this year, we rescued Horace and his adorable kitty siblings. Upon arrival, we immediately noticed Horace's dire condition. He was severely underweight, incredibly frail, and couldn't bear weight on one of his front legs. A thorough examination revealed a host of medical issues including a deformed/crushed paw, a spinal defect, and entropion—a discomforting condition where the eyelid folds inward, causing constant irritation as the lashes brush against the cornea.
After consulting with specialists and conducting x-rays, it became evident that Horace's challenges stemmed from birth defects rather than injury. Despite being only six months old, we were determined to provide him with a chance at a fulfilling life. Thus, we opted for the necessary surgeries to address his ailments. This included an amputation to alleviate the pain from his injured paw and corrective surgery for his entropion.
However, for us, ensuring Horace's well-being and giving him the opportunity for a happy, pain-free life was priceless.
