Update: Steve healed from his injuries back in July and loved playing with his foster family, especially his fur siblings. We are happy to report Steve was adopted the end of July through our BISSELL Pet Foundation Empty the Shelters event. Happy Tails little guy!!

On June 5, Animal Care Services received a call from a concerned resident who saw a puppy tossed out of the side of a moving vehicle. The responding officer picked up the injured puppy and brought him to ACS’s emergency room to be assessed and monitored.
San Antonio Pets Alive! staff saw this bandaged and vocal little pup and could not let him stay in an overcrowded shelter with an uncertain future and risk of getting ill. We asked our dedicated foster volunteers to temporarily open their home to him and thankfully, he’s now recovering with his amazing foster family.
Steve received x-rays and fortunately does not have any major medical issues from the incident. However, ALL the pads on his tiny paws were badly skinned off from this cruel and heartbreaking ordeal. This rambunctious puppy recently completed his daily bandage changes by his foster parents. His neuter is scheduled for mid-July, and he ready to run and play with his forever family.
Steve is as cute as can be and loves being with his foster siblings. He had quite the weekend attending puppy yoga and a concert with Petco Love employees.
Thankfully, this sweet boy is safe, loved, and cared for now.
